HOME / RESOURCES / ANALYSIS ROUNDS WITHOUT THE REDRAW
Guide · Generative Design · 3 min read
Structural design improves round by round: analyse, change, analyse again. The slow part of each round is usually the redraw. Here is how the Generative Design module keeps your finite element and structural analysis tools in the loop and takes the redraw out.

The usual loop
On most projects, the engineer analyses a design, finds a change and sends it to drafting. The drawings, sections and quantities are updated by hand before the next round can start. Each round waits for that work, so a team can afford only a few rounds.
Built-in integrations
The Generative Design module sends the model to finite element and structural analysis tools through built-in integrations. The results come back into Generative Design automatically, so nobody re-enters them. Your engineers keep the analysis software they already trust.
Change, and the next round runs
When an engineer changes a rule, or asks SAM to change a part, every part that depends on it is rebuilt. The next round of analysis runs on the updated model.
The general arrangements, sections and the priced BOQ update from the model after every round. Engineers can test a slimmer pier or a longer span and see the analysis, the drawings and the BOQ for it without waiting for a redraw.
Engineers still decide
Engineers set the rules, review the results and approve the design. The Generative Design module brings the results back into the model, so each round starts from the last one.
See it
The analysis page shows a round with SAM. In a demo, we generate one structure type from your rules, run an analysis round and open the drawings and BOQ.
